Lavender Cottage is close to the beaches of False Bay and the warm waters of the Indian Ocean as well as the Vineyards of Helderberg and Stellenbosch and the Whale Route to Hermanus.
The area also boasts an excellent Shopping Mall plus a number of local historical sites, a nature reserve, an arts and craft market, numerous scenic drives, with the Stellenboch Wine Route right on the doorstep.
Your hosts Celia and Trevor, have lived inSomerset West for over thirty years accumumulating a vast knowledge of theSomerset West, Helderberg Basin and the Western Cape areas and therefore are both more than suitable to assist you, their guest(s) with suggestions on what to do and where to go.
For many years Trevor acted as the ‘ unofficial guide for overseas visiting members of staff of the International Corporation for which he worked, showing off to them, the magnificence of the Western Cape and introducing them to the Cape’s hospitality. The Helderberg Mountain and the Helderberg Nature Reserve are literally only a stone throw away from Lavender cottage and one of Trevor’s favorite pastimes is walking the meandering footpaths on the gentle slopes of the Helderberg Mountain, absorbing the exceptional views and scenery, this he will willingly share with you, as your guide and walking companion.
When Celia is not serving guests their breakfasts you will find her absorbed in her hobby of fabric painting, of which you will see many of her designs, whist you spend time in the relaxing ambience of Lavender cottage.
Celia is a ‘ Founder Member ‘ of the Somerset West Country Craft Market which is one of the finest in the Country and she still teaches fabric painting and retains her many contacts in local arts and crafts circles. Should you wish to take back home an art memento of your holiday in South Africa her work is on sale at very reasonable prices.

The Self Catering cottage consists of a lounge with a TV, a fully equipped kitchen with a breakfast counter, a main bedroom with a shower and toilet en-suite, a second bedroom plus a further bathroom with a bath and toilet.
The Self Catering cottage has its own private barbeque plus an outside dinning area. The cottage leads directly onto the pool area and secure parking is provided on site. If required a breakfast service is available to guests staying in the cottage.
