Now, Dimitri Peroglou (peters son) and his wife Vicky run this authentic Greek taverna in the same spot as it was 30 years ago Our idea from the beginning is to create, produce and serve superb, full flavored food, all ruled by taste. We always strive for efficient, uncompromised, sincere, fabulous, caring and exceptional service. We are excited about building strong relationships with everyone we interact with, our customers, our community, our suppliers. One of the restaurant‘s unique characteristics is that it is located in just about the same spot on Sea Point Main Road where Dimitri’s father also had a restaurant called Mykonos from 1976 to 1983. It’s a winning combination of strong family values and Dimitri’s knack for creating knockout dishes. Mykonos Taverna also caters to outside functions and is available for special occasions and large bookings. Look out for Dimitri’s signature chilli and other speciality foods when you’re next at the restaurant, or available at selected stores in and around Sea Point. The success of Mykonos 2.0 is largely a culmination of Dimitri’s widespread experience and […]

Henry Vigar, the chef patron of La Mouette, spent a number of years making a name for himself as an up-and-coming young chef in fine cuisine in London. After also working in Australia and France, and a number of other UK based top-ranked and Michelin starred establishments, Henry settled as head chef at Kensington Place in London’s affluent Notting Hill. It was here in 2008 that he met Mari Vermaak (now Vigar), a colleague with a passion for the industry and a dream to one day own her own restaurant. Two years, two resignations, one engagement and two one-way tickets to South Africa later, saw the couple settle in the sunshine of Seapoint, Cape Town, to begin their new venture. The couple fell in love with a beautiful old building on Regent Road which once belonged to the mayor of Cape Town’s family. Captivated by its size and beauty, they quickly decided to make the building, home to their dream of owning their own restaurant. Calling on their good friend Gerrit Bruwer who also had a dream of being a part of the restaurant world, they signed the lease for 78 Regent Road, Sea Point in February 2010 and quite […]

18 years on and so much has changed yet so much has remained the same at La Cuccina, our Hout Bay Restaurant. Simply put, we are very serious about making people happy through our food. Whether you’re in our restaurant, or ordering our ready meals on-line for home, you’ll find the food we create is “real and comforting”. We use great ingredients, creating simple, layered in flavour food, that speaks to the heart. We strive to serve food to be savoured and enjoyed while perhaps bringing back memories of good home cooking. We’re particularly proud to be working with so many small, local, artisan food producers who are behind much of what we sell through our restaurant. From our local bee keepers and meat curers to cheese makers and our free range chicken and egg farmer who supplies us exclusively. There is just so much energy and passion going into the making of some first-class ingredients, and supporting local is a part of who we are and what we do. We know how unusual it is, in our time, to find food that is closer to the source, uncomplicated, unspoilt and emanating from genuine instincts. This idea of simplicity is […]

The ‘Quentin at Oakhurst’ restaurant and cellar is the cumulative result of a longstanding vision to host and serve superb food in a unique setting. Located on one of the original Hout Bay farms, the ‘Quentin at Oakhurst restaurant’ and cellar will follow in the footsteps of generations of family food farming and cooking traditions.Located in the upper regions of the valley, juxtaposed by two rivers , sourced on rich flood plain soils, and dwarfed by the Skoorsteenspoort escarpment, this farm sustained and nurtured the valley’s residents with a bounty of meats, fowls, dairy, wine and vegetables for over a hundred years. The existing barn served as the heart of this production. The steel wall hoops hark back to the days when the dairy herd was milked here and when the adjacent cellar still carried grapes from fermentation to wine. The recent renovation of the barn retains and celebrates this rich vein of Cape and associated culinary heritage. The gurgling of rapid water, the scurry of guinea fowl and the crack of acorns underfoot, embraced by the coolness of the majestic and mighty oak tree’s canopy, make for a magnificent setting which serves as an extraordinary inspiration and epiphany for this […]

Welcome to our restaurant, the best place for any food or wine lover to relax and unwind while enjoying a great meal. We introduce new cultures to visitors through cuisines of various countries, offering special dishes for everyone regardless of their food preferences. Started out in 2010. We have a skillful chef who everyone knows as “Tookta” who is also the owner of the restaurant. Born in a city a few hours outside of Bangkok called Ubon Ratchathani. Her cooking style is very traditional and almost home-made which gives her dishes a unique flavour while still sticking to what people know. The vibe of the restaurant is also traditional yet very relaxed which coincides with what Salathai means, an open pavilion, used as a meeting place and to protect people from sun and rain. Most are open on all four sides. They are found throughout Thailand in Buddhist temple areas and other areas such as a back yard of your home where you and your family can relax. As such, our restaurant has a homely feel to it and very often you will see the chef engage with the customers also to make them feel welcome to her “Home”.
Cotton and Ice. Sand and sequins. Beautiful, bronzed and a little bit blasphemous – it’s the Bungalow. Take balmy add a splash of bubbly stir in a breezy blonde pop in an oyster and it’s the Bungalow. Bungalicious if you will. Cool down that all over body blush by sipping a deliciously icy cocktail with an unpronounceable name. Wink and clink your way across the deck and take your table at the very edge of the continent. Breathe in. Yes. This is your life. To envisage the décor imagine Donna Karan marooned on an island with nothing but a chandelier and an axe. Baroque clashes with the Mediterranean and the bleach blonde exterior gives way to bare-skin opulence within. Curl up on a cushioned bench with your ex, or flaunt your latest on the sun dappled deck.
