Ten vintages of expressive, award-winning wines and finally, a venue to match. Spectacular views of the majestic ‘Helderberg basin’ mountains and the full profile of the Cape Peninsula from Table Mountain to Cape Point can be seen across nearby False Bay.
The architecture mirrors South Africa’s unique positioning in the World of Wine. Old World classically-styled Roman arches and stone clad porticos support a contemporary New World timber pavilion and concrete wine tasting cube.
The restaurant opened in June 2016, and the venue will offer a ‘casual fine dining’ restaurant and a wine tasting centre that will showcase Idiom’s flagship blends, signature Italian varietal wines and rare, limited release 900 Series wines. Explore the ‘Cape Idiom’ of the great wine regions of the world, while taking in architecture, views, Italian-inspired restaurant and deli with olive oil & balsamic degustation, pizza & picnics. The family-friendly venue will offer in 2017 a selection of Fynbos Walks & Bike Trails and an Idiom Sensory Science Centre with a wine & perfume laboratory capturing the sensory profiles of the wines. Guests will be able to embark on a virtual journey through the main wine regions of Italy at the Vinotria Italian Wine Library – an interactive display of 250 wines from all over Italy distributed by Bottega Family Wines in South Africa.
