Since its opening day the pot luck has filled 2 sitting’s each night throughout high and low season, running to capacity of one hundred and twenty guests. It has been dubbed the coolest place to be in Cape Town and its success is based on innovative cuisine, served in a relaxed yet edgy environment in a part of Cape Town that has never attracted an evening dining crowd. Luke collaborated with renowned Cape Town based architect Greg Scot along with some of the city’s foremost art and design personalities. The focal point which has become signatory to Luke’s restaurants is the open plan kitchen which is illuminated by studio lighting giving the impression of a stage. At the centre of this striking stage is any professional chef’s dream, a 1.4 metre Robatta grill and range of Power woks. These are the engines that drive the majority of Pot Luck’s hot dishes imparting authentic flavours and colour. Burrata

Burrata is located in Cape Town’s Old Biscuit Mill. Offering Italian-inspired fare with a flair for the exciting and unexpected, this restaurant offers interesting mains and handcrafted pizzas of the highest quality as well as a superbly appointed wine list. Burrata’s attention to detail is also the focal point of the restaurant. The pizza oven was hand built by a third-generation family-owned business in Naples. This oven is able to reach higher temperatures than the average pizza oven, which means every pizza turned out by Burrata is delicious and cheesy – bubbling with taste and moisture and almost impossible to resist.

Con Brio Bistro

Nestled under the slopes of Table Mountain, Con Brio Bistro is one of Vredehoek’s best loved local restaurants. It’s a place where friends and neighbours meet and foodie-friendly, vegetarian/vegan-friendly, child-friendly and dog-friendly come together. There are few places in Cape Town that boast such a selection of fine foods in such a warm, relaxed and inviting atmosphere. From the exquisite and meticulous dining experiences in Dubai, the warm and boisterous eateries of the Mediterranean and the Baltic shores of Finland, owner Vanessa Rose has spent the last 15 years working and travelling around the world searching for the perfect balance between décor and dish. And from the flavours of those experiences, she imagined the eating experience people desire most. Her dream became a reality when Con Brio Bistro opened its doors in early 2015. When a hot dog is not enough and Chateaubriand is too much, Con Brio Bistro in Vredehoek is the place. We are child-friendly and boast a yummy kids’ menu with smaller portions of delicious food. We’re also a dog-friendly restaurant so feel free to bring the whole family! We are vegetarian-friendly and have a popular vegan menu that that keeps our vegan foodies coming back for more. We also have vegan options for pizza and […]

Table Seven

With over 14 years of experience in some of the world’s top restaurants and hotels,  Luke Wonnacott brings a wealth of knowledge and skill to Table Seven. Years of passion and dedication to his craft has seen him being accredited with numerous awards. His belief when it comes to creating the perfect kitchen is simple; find the right product, build a team to execute that product and create an environment that people love to work in. Katie Wonnacott started her career at Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant, Maze at The One & Only, where she met Luke.  She hastravelled the UK and Mediterranean as a private chef, interned at the Wolseley and spent two seasons on the yachts, but decided to change her course of direction to Event Management, planning concerts and festivals for small and large numbers of guests, with top performing artists.  She moved back to Cape Town working as an Events Manager. In 2017 the duo decided to start Table Seven, where they can explore and expand their expertise in the culinary and event industry, always focussing on product and execution. As a team, we have a vast background based on the highest quality experience.  We approach every project or event hands-on and we pride ourselves on sourcing the best quality produce.  We will […]

Pahari African Restaurant

Pahari in the Shona language means “a place of pots“. In our African culture pots are made out of clay and are designed to create the best flavours on the natural fire. We grew up eating various types of our African cuisine from the African pot. Some of the best recipes have disappeared with time and the skills to create them have gone with our elders. Pahari African Restaurant aims to recreate the taste as it used to be with special attention to detail. Our African dish is based on Sadza (also known as Pap) and everything else is designed to accompany it. Sadza in Shona is created from various types of millet: chiefly maize, but rapoko (finger millet) or brown rice can supplement. Various types of relish are often served along with Sadza. This relish ranges from beef stew, ox trotters, tripe with offals, free range chicken and the popular Mopane worms mostly found in the forests of Matabeleland in Zimbabwe. Green vegetables are also a supplement in every plate, they come either fried or in peanut butter. We believe this concept of African Traditional food must be shared among all food lovers internationally. It does not need to be […]

Knife Restaurants

Restaurateur Ed Saunders (also involved with the excellent restaurant, Fork) has created an eatery in which the ambience and the food are cosy, home-from-home, as well as simply sophisticated; a bit like New York loft meets Deep South smokehouse. Don’t forget our Happy Hour, reduced price draught beer, house spirits and cocktails, 5-7pm daily. Knife is a sexy new American-style smokehouse, where you can tuck into the signature smoked meats, our special ribs, tender chicken, both simple and exotic seafood, or perfectly-grilled steaks. And with an open kitchen, so you can start salivating long before the food hits your table. But for all the sophistication, there is something that’ll tempt the whole family, with a menu full of delights, from appetizers to desserts to cocktails. In fact we’ve lavished quite a bit of attention on a special kids’ menu, as we love catering to the smaller set. We’re also happy for you to take some Knife with you, and have devised a takeaway menu for this purpose. The bar is custom-built for easy drinking and laid-back lounging, and also serves as the perfect perch from which to view a big game, or our classic, manly movies, while we ply you […]

Kloof Street House

At the foot of Cape Town’s vibrant Kloof Street, risen from a fairy-lit garden, lies a dining oasis. Set in a magnificent Victorian house, Kloof Street House is an experience as enigmatic as it is intimate. Our grand old dame is more than just a restaurant, it is a collection of interesting rooms and spaces, each bursting with a character of its own. The venue is everything for every occasion – live jazz over Sunday lunch, romantic candle lit dinners in our dining rooms or cocktails under the trees in our garden. Our delicious meals, cozy ambiance and friendly staff will make you feel right at home. Beneath the pressed ceilings of this twentieth century Victorian house is a reservoir of design passion. From beautiful chandeliers to a suitcase-stacked bar, the restaurant is a visual feast for the diner with a curious mind and a wandering eye. Every inch of the house is archival, a memoir of a time or place that escapes the modern city around us. Bo-Kaap adorns the neck of Signal Hill as a jewel of the Cape. With brightly coloured houses and a distinct style – Cape Malay that is – that differentiates it from the surrounding suburbs it is hard not to notice its glistening appeal. The couple regularly receive recommendations, from people living across the street to people residing as far out as Russia and Kazakhstan. They have hosted politicians, ambassadors and many other VIPs and all these high-profile customers are flocking to the Bo-Kaap Kombuis for one thing: authentic Cape Malay cuisine. The couple believe it is this one factor that is the reason for the success of the Bo-Kaap Kombuis because the food that is prepared is a reflection of the surrounding Bo-Kaap; its history, heritage and love for people – regardless […]
