About Kensington

Kensington is one of the northern suburbs of Cape Town in the Western Cape province of South Africa. Nearby suburbs include Goodwood, Parow, and Bellville.

The Cape Town City Centre is located close to Kensington and is only about 10 minutes’ drive away without delays. The suburb is easily accessed through several main roads and highways that pass by or directly through the town. The N1 highway forms part of Kensington’s border just after the Canal Walk turn off. Residents can also take the train to Cape Town from the Kentemade Station.

The Ysterplaat Airbase is located in the area around Kensington which also includes the suburb of Maitland and Windmere. From Kensington you have a beautiful view of Table Mountain, and the suburb has a number of older houses with a few open spaces in different areas. Shopping can be done at a number of smaller shopping centres in Kensington or residents can take a short ride to the Canal Walk Shopping Centre or the N1 City shopping complex.

Kensington has a number of schools and churches. Schools in the suburb include Kenmare Primary School and the Kensington High School. There is also an Islam Mosque locate within the area.
